Rare original deep groove mono pressing LP in sweet and strong VG+ condition.

1947 recordings made in the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman by prisoners.

Really fascinating and powerfully moving collection of rural blues at its rawest. Moving and forceful.

On the liner notes on the back, Lomax quotes an old Mississippi prison work songs:

It ain't but the one thing I done wrong,

I stayed in Mississippi just one day too long.

We all know Bob's recent song, Mississippi, uses that exact refrain as it's main hook.

Jacket shows only some light and minor wear. Top split all the way open. Old piece of tape at spine center. 2" tear on back bottom left. No writing. See photos.

Vinyl boasts original shine, gloss and luster. I can see some, and really not that many, light and completely superficial surface marks on the faces. I'll grade at VG+.

All in all, this is a great LP at a remarkable starting price.
