very very rare french LP mixing songs poetry, music and folk music made i believe on 1958 called " ARLETTE REINERG and MEL HOWARD présentent LA CONTRESCARPE" .(LPL 1001)(C840) I 've never ever see this on sale on EBAY . arlette Reinger was a french screewriter and actress in the 60"s and la Contrescarpe used to be the french equivalednt of "greenwich village" a place where you cpould meet french and european singers poets etc.. JACK ELLIOTT (i had dinner with him there!) and DEROLL ADAMS played in the street there in the end 50's/early 60's. one side of this LP is called "CHANSONS FOLKLORIQUES" and has songs by ALEX CAMPBELL (badly ortographed on label as ALEX CAMBELL): ""new york blues" (woody guthrie), "old blue" "join the british army" and "i am a weary and lonesome traveller" which makes it 4 songs by him and i'm not sure they can be found on any other record than here! then you have on the same side the Latin singer MARA (4 songs) and Israeli singers ARIK AND NEOMI (badly orographed again should be NAOMI) BAR -or (+ arik brauer) 4 different songs (ask me if you need the complete track listing. the other side has french humorists/ storytellers comedians doing what we called 'cafe theatre": JACQUES MARCHAIS - BERNARD HALLER JEAN PIERRE RAMBAL and PAUL VILLAZ ....sleeve front cover has small pictures of each of them (at least 3pics of each artist) and back cover has liner notes by ARLETTE on those performers/artists she says Alex is a scottish beer drinker, brandy drinker singer of american folk singers and who wants you to love him! sleeve condition: VG scuffs and small folds wear on borders and corners. far from mint or Ex but still quite OK i would guess and really fits in a collection! labels are clean. disc looks Ex/NMint but (because of cheap pressing) plays betwwen VG+ and VG- some songs plays great other has strong surface noise plays OK though postage $10
