Description
Louis-Charles-Bonaventure-Alfred Bruneau ( Paris, 3 March 1857 - Paris, 15 June 1934 ) was a French composer who played a key role in the introduction of realism in French opera. First studied the cello at the Paris Conservatory and played at the Pasdeloup orchestra. He soon began to compose a cantata, in 1884 an ouverture, choral symphonies, in 1887 he produced his first opera. 1888 Bruneau met Emile Zola, launching a collaboration that would be last for two decades. Zola wrote the libretti for the opera L'Ouragan in 1901.
12" electric Pathé Art X 5533, needle cut, L'Attaque du Moulin - Prelude and lied; L'Ouragan IV Prelude - Le départ. Vocal autograph ( speech by Alfred Bruneau ) at the end on side 1. Recorded Paris 1930. Cond: side 1 = 2-3, rubs; side 2 = 3, rubs and 1 scratch along the grooves causes jump to the next groove.
Grading:
1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
