Although the group was named after them, you don't actually hear too much Duane and Gregg Allman on this record; there are several lead singers, and lead guitar is prominent on only three tracks ("Gotta Get Away", "Bell Bottom Britches", and "Spoonful"). The material was recorded in 1966 and then shelved until the success of the Allman Brothers Band prompted Dial to put it out in 1973. Compared to the Allman Brothers, it sounds quite callow, but still pretty advanced for 1966. Side A (with four tracks written by Gregg Allman) is, for the most part, early garage psychedelia along the lines of the Count Five or the Seeds. It gets off to a good start with the uptempo "Gotta Get Away". The next track, "Oh John", is the strangest song on the album, with a discordant organ riff and a grim story line. This is followed by an oh-so-heartfelt version of Roy Acuff's "Street Singer", and the also very earnest and folk-rocky "You'll Learn Someday". Next comes an OK cover of the show tune "Old Man River", which is mostly quite subdued but has a nice big ending; the side closes with the fun, bouncy "Bell Bottom Britches". Side B starts off with a hard-driving version of Willie Dixon's "Spoonful". The next track, "Stalling for Time", written by John D. Loudermilk (who produced the album), sees the group going in a somewhat different direction, towards Mason Proffit-like cosmic-country-folky territory. After one more uptempo track ("Doctor Fone Bone", given a Memphis soul treatment), the album's final three tracks ("Changing of the Guard", "The Forest for the Trees", and "Northern Boundary") continue in the path set by "Stalling for Time".

· CONDITION:
· THE RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.
(b) The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.
(c) The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type), vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· THE COVER
THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has a small, neat, circular cutout hole in one of the corners
- Cover has a partially split top seam (between 1 and 2 inches / 2.5 to 5 centimeters); This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape
- Visible shelf wear noted on the top and bottom seams
- Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners.
- Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)
NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: WE RECOMMEND (BUT DO NOT INSIST) that you select USPS International Priority Mail when making a payment.
INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE rates vary from one region of the world to another. For SPECIFIC international and domestic postage rates, please click on " Shipping, returns, and payments" tab in the header of our listing.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
(A) All orders valued at $50.00 or more will be shipped fully insured against loss, damage or theft by ShipCover, eBay's contracted insurer, at our expense (B) Yes, we do combine items into a single shipment; in order to enable this feature, the winning bidders should WAIT until their last item of interest ends and ONLY THEN make a payment. We can only make reasonable inference on the record's playing condition based on its visual appearance. (D) This seller will NOT cancel erroneous, frivolous and prank bids. The bidders can do so on their own, by visiting eBay's Site Map, then clicking on Bid Retractions link. (E) This seller does not specifically grade or describe certain items, such as: shrink (cellophane) wrap and accompanying extras (inserts, booklets, etc.); however, the presence of these items WILL be noted and accompanied by the gallery photo(s). (F) Please do not submit any bids on our items if you have insufficient user history. (G) Other than in very rare justified cases, failure to pay for the item you won amounts to a fraud and will result in a permanent ban on bidding on our future listings.
