RARE: Quite possibly one of the rarest UK Plum Atlantic label items! The Allman Brothers “At The Fillmore East”. This record can usually be found on the Capricorn label both in the UK and the States but for a very limited period was pressed on the Atlantic label.

RESEARCH: As a regular dealer at Record Fairs and on the net I had NEVER come across this record. Other dealers had heard that it might exist but had never seen a copy. The absence of any concrete sighting of this item possibly explains the reason why it is not listed in the RC Guide. After some research on the net through UK Allman Brothers fan clubs and Rare Vinyl sites I pieced together some of this records History.

The Album apparently never charted in the UK but sold in large numbers in the US. This probably explains why “an unknown percentage of the albums were released with US Capricorn covers, manufactured and exported here to save costs on an album that was never likely to sell here”. It is fairly common for items on the Atlantic label to have covers printed in the US, Yes’s first album comes to mind. The album was released in late 1971 right at the end of the original plum Atlantic dynasty but instead of continuing as an Atlantic label item transferred to the Capricorn Label. This version as the US thick card sleeve printed with the Capricorn insignia. It is hard to say which sleeve is the rarer as I have only seen references to two previous copies, one with UK cover and one with US cover.

As a comparison other records printed on plum Atlantic such as Led Zep and Yes must have been printed in far larger numbers. In my opinion this rates as one of the rarer UK plum Atlantic records.

DETAILS: The records have the serial number 2402035 & 2402036. Matrix Nos: A1/B1; A1/A3. Along the top of the label reads “Made IN Gt BRITAIN”.

CONDITION: The vinyl is in outstanding condition all four sides with a full shine and no sign of surface marks. IT PLAYS WITH FULL CLARITY THROUGH OUT! Any surfaces sounds are very minimal.

The labels are in perfect condition with no writing or marking only the faintest evidence of play.

The gatefold sleeves front and back cover are in excellent condition with no creasing or tearing to the thick cardboard. There is some minor wear to the spine and a little damage to the inside of the cover. Overall the cover is very presentable with a near perfect front and back.
