AMBROSE SLADE – Genesis / Roach Daddy
ORIG Fontana 45 / TF 1015 (UK, Mono, 1969)
Very happy to offer the super scarce, very hardest Slade related UK 45 to track down: the legendary ‘Genesis’ from their days as Ambrose Slade back in 1969. For those of you seeking Mint, look away now. This is far from it, though having said that it’s still got plenty life left and sounds pretty good.
Presented, as issued, with the large centre-hole, the labels are in decent shape – NO writing, stickers, tears. There is a small shaded spot on the A but that’s about it. Minimum VG+ (Very Good Plus) shape if not excellent.
The vinyl shows some shine though there is noticeable dulling also. Both sides have extensive but light scuffing when viewed in light. Not much in the way of decipherable lines (two or three to the A) not much to the B. But wear and light surface rubbing to each side. Overall looks OK and genuinely grades around G (Good).
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays pretty well. Expect surface noise / some light crackle to either side but generally UNDER and not OVER the music (although still decipherable). The A also has a few pops half way through but NO sticks/repeats or jumps/skips. Generally plays without distortion too.
So not a perfect example but rare in any condition, here’s a seldom seen opportunity to get this very hard to find disc. Presented in what may be its original sleeve. Correct vintage.
