Ame Son - "Catalyse" LP 1970 (BYG/ACTUEL)- EXTREMELY RARE & OOP!!
1970 French Gatefold Original.
One of the few rock bands to make the BYG/Actuel series, besides Gong. Most of the members of Ame Son played with Daevid Allen of Gong when he could no longer play with Soft Machine. With Allen they were Bananamoon, but when he left to form Gong they changed the name to Ame Son.
Ame Son Were One Of The Earliest Prog Bands To Cross-Polinate Free Jazz With Psychedelic Music. Many Tracks Begin In An Avant Free-Form Jam That Eventually Develop Into More Structured Song And Rhythm, With Lyrics In Either French Or English, And Then Slips Back Into Another Wild Free-Form Freak-Out. Prominent Flute, Drugged-Out Vocals, And Fuzzed-Up Electric Guitar Lend This A Definite Late-'60s Underground Vibe, Though Because Of The Originality Of The Material And The Quality Of Musicianship, It Doesn't Sound Dated Like Similar Releases From That Era. Regarded By Connoisseurs Of The Genre As A Masterpiece.    - overall the vinyl is really nice for being 43 yrs old  - still very shiny with some very light surface scuffs and a couple of minor scratches.
- there are some minor pops and crackles - but i like to hear minor crackles and pops in my vinyl - no major skips - nothing a good cleaning won't fix - cover has slight surface wear and ring wear - but still retains MOST of it glossiness - the white still looks very white - inside gatefold is still glossy w/some wear - back is glossy with some ring wear.
