Description
This record is one of the first E Berliner's to be issued in the UK, in 1898 Berliner sent William Barry Owen & Fred Gaisberg to London to run a recording studio, Berliner's brother was sent to Hanover to set up a disc pressing plant. This record dates from that time, on the front is their 1898 patended trade mark the Recording Angel impressed in the Hanover pressing is 'E Berliners Gramophone, 67 and etched the title 'The Soldiers of the Queen-March' then again etched ' Played by HM Grenadier Guards Band- London. ( incidentally my band but years later ! ) An extremely rare record in excellent condition, at that time the Band's Musical Director was Albert Williams MUS DOC. MVO he was the master from 1896 till 1921.It has a strong purpose made cover, postage/packing UK only £4.00p I'm happy to 'ship' abroad at a little extra postage .
