TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF MAIL SHIPMENTS TO THE USA Hellenic Post announces the temporary suspension of all mail items containing goods to the United States of America and its territories, effective August 26, 2025. This temporary suspension comes as a result of the tightening of US customs regulations. More specifically: 1. As of August 29, 2025, items / goods that were previously exempt from duties, i.e. items valued below the $800 threshold, will now be subject to duties from the very first dollar. 2. These duties must be paid to US Customs BEFORE the goods enter the country. The technical specifications and implementation details were published by the US Customs Service on 15 August 2025, but further clarifications are required regarding the published documents and the relevant decree. Postal operators across Europe are working together to fulfill these obligations as soon as possible, but many of them have already announced a temporary suspension of shipments to the US. In addition, several cooperating cargo carriers and airlines have informed that they are also suspending the transport of postal shipments destined for the United States until an operational procedure is in place. The suspension is a temporary but unfortunately necessary measure for the development, testing and implementation of new cross-border technical solutions required to comply with the new US requirements.
