Description
Liberty LBS 83233 stereo, original first (and only?) pressing so is now a rare and sought after album.
The single sleeve has a plain but smooth rear and laminated front, the lamination folding back over the spine which has protected it nicely. And all in strong, square and clean nick. No fraying, rips, tears or writing. Over time all laminate shrinks and introduces some creasing and this example shows a modicum of such. There is also a hint of ringwear and some grubbiness on the rear which all these plain backs accumulate over time. Lastly, there is an old price sticker on the back showing £0.99!! Decimalisation began in the UK in 1971 so this LP was hanging around unsold until at least then!! Unbelievable. Oh to have a time machine and head for the Vertigo racks in the record stores.......... After all that and in summary I rate the sleeve 8.5 out of 10 for condition.
The labels are very nice thank you. I'm looking at the spindle holes under the searching table lamp and I really can't eyeball any signs of spindle 'snail' tracking to indicate the disc having seen a turntable. Indeed, the holes look virgin and the vinyl whiskers from the plant pressing process are still in the hole (along with a factory wax run onto label 2 as shown in the photo).
The album matrix numbers are machine etched on to the run-offs with the A//1 and B//4 stampers.
So, if the flat and shiny disc is unplayed you would think it is in great condition? Almost. Consider the fact it's 50 years old so has been in existence for five decades in the sleeve and must have picked up some light scuffing and hairlines (it has). And on Side 1 there is a 3cm scuff on the outer 'pick-up' groove into track 1 which shouldn't be a problem but I mention it for the sake of completeness. In light of the age blemishes I also give the vinyl 8.5 /10 for condition.
