1949 Andy Warhol
Lp Cover
Helen Traubel
"Beethoven Settings Of Irish And Scotch Songs"
with Trio Accompaniment
it's an original microgroove 1949 vinyl LP record
with blue deep groove labels that have silver print. it's mostly
being offered because of its Andy Warhol cover artwork (of his
earliest commercial creations, and one of a handful of LP covers
Warhol created for Columbia Records between 1949 and
the Early-1950s). and while Warhol isn't credited on release
this has long been attributed to him.
the album cover itself is still mostly bright, clean and
displays well with no stickers, writing, cuts, holes or seam splits.
it does have some typical visible discoloration to its plain white
background in places (mostly on back) and has other typical light
visual wear from age, but has no serious issues.
the record has shiny clean vinyl with some typical visual
wear but nothing too severe looking. it's been fully play tested
and it plays and sounds okay with no skips, repeats or serious issues
but it does play with more than average crackle / static.
its labels are bright, clean and in excellent condition
with no stickers, writing or serious issues.

Warhol created his first album covers for Columbia Records
in 1949 when Robert Jones, art director at Columbia at the
time, hired him to come up with artwork for their newly launched
Masterworks LP format: “I gave him three little spots to do for the
corners of the standard albums, at $50 apiece. He needed money.
I know that these little spots must have been amongst the first things
he did, certainly in the first three to six months he was here.”
this led to Warhol working on additional LP covers for Columbia
between 1949 and the Early-1950s, noted for the use of the blotted line
technique, one he used throughout the '50s for artistic and practical
reasons. the primitive print making method involved copying a
drawing from a tracing paper to an absorbent paper, adding ink to
the drawing and then transferring the ink to the copy. the process
resulted in the dotted, broken, and delicate lines that are
characteristic of Warhol’s illustrations.
