Description
Scarce vintage LP featuring jazz vocalist ANITA O’DAY on the NORGRAN label from 1955. The album is autographed on the reverse by Miss O’Day and guitarist Barney Kessel.
Title of the LP is “AN EVENING WITH ANITA O’DAY.” Catalog number is MG N-1057. Monaural pressing.
This is the original 12” pressing – containing songs issued in 10-inch format the prior year. Label is black with silver print, with trumpet player logo and deep groove.
Guaranteed to be authentic and original – I do not sell bootlegs or modern reissues.
This album came from the estate of a gentleman who collected jazz albums for many years, many of which were autographed at performances he attended when the artist(s) appeared at clubs in the Washington, D.C., area. The owner prized his collection, played them sparingly, and stored them under the best conditions.
There are three ensembles represented on this album.
(1) Miss O’Day is accompanied by ARNOLD ROSS – piano; BARNEY KESSEL – guitar; MONTY BUDWIG – bass; and JACKIE MILLS – drums, on:
· Just One of Those Things
· Gypsy In My Soul
· The Man I Love
· Frankie and Johnny
(2) Miss O’Day is accompanied by BUD LAVIN – piano; MONTY BUDWIG – bass; and JOHN POOLE – drums, on:
· Anita’s Blues
· I Cover the Waterfront
· I Didn’t Know What Time It Was
· Let’s Fall in Love
(3) Miss O’Day is accompanied by JIMMIE ROWLES – piano; TAL FARLOW – guitar; LEROY VINNEGAR – bass; and LARRY BUNKER – drums; on:
· You’re Getting to be a Habit with Me
· From This Moment On
· You Don’t Know What Love Is
· Medley: There’ll Never Be Another You – Just Friends
Jacket: Jacket is in fairly nice shape with several obvious flaws. Front art work is clean and nice with no traces of wear. Top and bottom seams are flawless except for a small split at bottom right corner due to a small bend. Spine has cracking in three places where piece of spine is missing. Reverse displays some surface wear, some discolored spots, a small circular sticker residue and small notation “Jazz-Vocal” at upper right in neat red pen.
Vinyl: Very fine NM disc with full brilliant gloss. It appears to have been played a very small number of times based on a few tracking lines around the spindle hole and a couple very slight scuffs which are not audible. The fidelity is superb. I believe the winning bidder will be very pleased.
