GRADING

The grading of side one and side two of a disc is separated by a forward slash: E/V+

Please note: Although based on standard VJM Grading, all grading is VISUAL. This is because:

Audio quality is dependent on the use of the correct equalisation playback curve, and the use of styli with appropriate tip sizes. (Record groove widths/depths vary according to manufacturer and date.)

Most collectors, including myself, do not have expensive playback facilities. I therefore take the view that as collectors have long used their eyes when deciding whether to purchase records in 2nd-hand shops, record fairs, etc. a method of visual grading is better employed here.

ALL GRADING IS GUARANTEED. IF YOU ARE NOT ENTIRELY HAPPY WITH THE CONDITION OF YOUR RECORD, A FULL REFUND WILL BE OFFERED.

E+ Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets. E Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches. E- Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches. V+ V+ is an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced. V Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive. V- Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

N.B.
Scratches or needle digs that cause repeats or skips should be noted separately; as should cracks, prominent digs, needle-runs, rim-chips, rim-flakes, edge-bites, edge-dents, warps, 'dishing' etc.

The safe arrival of your record(s)

As a collector of 78s myself, I understand the importance of safe packing for postage. 78s won in my auctions are sandwiched between cardboard squares, taped at edges and placed in an oversized box with cushioning on all sides/edges. I have been posting 78s for many years and none have ever been damaged in transit.

Postage & Packing charges

  • UK - £4.50 for 1st record*
  • REST OF EUROPE (Airmail): £7.95 for 1st record*
  • USA & REST OF THE WORLD (Airmail): £12.00 for 1st record*

*For additional records, postage will be charged at cost

A larger quantity of records will result in far better value, so I'm happy to look after (paid for) records to make up an economical parcel.

Please note, I am a collector and not a dealer. Since I buy considerably more 78s on Ebay than I sell, I end up with many perfectly re-useable cardboard boxes - all of which I've been charged for. Where possible, it is these that I use. Apart from the obvious 'GREEN' benefits, your records are no less well protected.

I do not make money from P&P charges.
Please bear all this in mind when leaving feedback!

Thank you.
