Up for auction is an absolute masterpiece and an investment-grade holy grail for classical audiophiles: a hyper-rare, 180g Test Pressing of Alexander Borodin's "Symphony No. 2 & Symphony No. 3 / Prince Igor Overture," conducted by the legendary Ernest Ansermet leading the world-famous L'Oiseau-Lyre and Decca staple: L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Originally recorded in the acoustic marvel of Victoria Hall, Geneva, in October/November 1954, this performance is universally celebrated as a milestone of orchestral recording, offering mind-blowing soundstage depth, thunderous low-end, and incredible imaging. This premium, pure-analogue reissue was meticulously prepared from the original master tapes by Germany’s renowned Speakers Corner Records (Catalog: London Stereo CS 6126) in March 1996.
Test pressings from Speakers Corner are produced in minuscule quantities (often just 5 to 20 copies) for technical evaluation at the Pallas pressing plant and are virtually impossible to acquire on the open market.
This rare investment piece includes the authentic factory production insert printed in English, detailing the engineering history, original tape cutting specs, and historical context of the recording session. The record features the iconic blank white factory test-pressing labels.
