Description
Hello everyone,
I have a lovely copy of a 1961 Decca SXL wide band grooved album.
Decca SXL 2268 Ernest Ansermet Rimsky Korsakov ' Scheherazade ' plus Borodin ' Polovtsian Dances '. Matrix numbers ZAL - 5039-1D ZAL - 5040-1D
The record has 2 very, very fine lines on side 2, non-sounding. Under a strong light one has to turn the disc to the right angle to see them.
There is a very, very fine line on side 1 and is described as above. There is also, as seen in photo no 3, a trace line which is non-sounding.
On listening one hears a great interpretation of the music by The Suisse Romande under the baton of Ernest Ansermet at his best. The record plays beautifully, without any faults other than the merest hint of the lightest and briefest background
noise. This is only noticed on the first two movements of ' Scheherazade '. I repeat , it's only occasional, only lasting seconds and only on the quietest passages. On the whole of the record I can hear just three light tics.
That apart, the record plays like new. I offer money back for a dissatisfied buyer but I'm sure that will not be necessary. The disc is dead flat, very black and shiny.
The sleeve has a touch of handling on the rear top edge and a little age browning on the rear margins. The spine is undamaged and the front has two tiny, 2/3 mm imperfections on the opening edge.
I grade the Record as Excellent minus and the Sleeve also Excellent minus.
The record has been cleaned on a professional record cleaner and is supplied in a Nagaoka inner liner [ photo 9 ]. The inner sleeve is the original Decca FFSS [ photo 8 ] and the outer sleeve will have a good poly cover [ photo 10 ].
The record will be bubble wrapped and dispatched in a purpose made cardboard record mailer with stiffeners.
Please feel free to ask questions or request further pictures.
Thank you for your interest.
Kind regards,
Brian.
