nice soulful psych rarity from the band formerly known as The V.I.P.s who were soon to undergo metamorphosis into Spooky Tooth, and it would be impossible to find a better copy of this, their solitary single (aside from the lost promo-only Art / Spooky Tooth 45) - slightly different mix to the ‘Supernatural Fairy Tales’ LP version with a really big sound as is always the case on these early Island singles - absolutely original 1st pressing from July 1967 with the ‘Mills’ miscredit and very scarce solid centre (2nd pressings changed to a 3-prong ‘dinked’ centre) - perfect labels - original pink company bag (although Island would not begin widely using the pink covers until 1968) - a quite superb reworking of the Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills) song ‘For What It’s Worth’, Art’s strong full-blown phased soul treatment brings the piece alive in a big way - ‘Rome Take Away Three’ is a great hard and heavy B-side too - top psych 7” and one of the scarcer pink 45s - in my collection for more than 30 years, now 47 years old and still as new!
