Art Blakey And His Jazz Messengers (12” LP)

The Jazz Messengers were a jazz combo that existed for over thirty-five years beginning in the early 1950s as a collective, and ending when long-time leader and founding drummer Art Blakey died in 1990. Blakey led or co-led the group from the outset. "Art Blakey" and "Jazz Messengers" became synonymous over the years, though Blakey did lead non-Messenger recording sessions and played as a sideman for other groups throughout his career. Personel: Bass – Jymie Merritt, Drums – Art Blakey; Piano – Bobby Timmons; Tenor Saxophone – Wayne Shorter; Trombone – Curtis Fuller; Trumpet – Lee Morgan; Engineer – Rudy Van Gelder; Producer – Bob Thiele.

Side Two: You Don't Know What Love Is; I Hear A Rhapsody; Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You.
The album is on HMV Records, CLP 1532. Matrix side one: A 7A-1S   1   G (stamped). Matrix side two: A 7B-1S   1   G (stamped).
Released in 1961. UK pressing. Mono.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: very good (has the odd light mark and plays with the very odd light click here and there but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, it still sounds great, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: very good (has the odd light mark and plays with the very odd light click here and there but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, it still sounds great, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle).
Cover (front laminated, flip-back): very good (small surface tear on centre of top edge, light rubbing, a  few small marks and initials written on back).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
