Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
This is a rare 1st press copy of Art Blakey - Orgy In Rhythm Volume Two recorded March 1957 & released in August 1957. This was bought by Stan Tracey during his time working in New York. This first pressing has a front laminated cover with deep groove New York 23 blue & white label 47W 63rd. RVG etched in deadwax with "P"/ear.
The record has been Degritter cleaned. There are some marks Side 1 but it plays VG+. Side 2 has large marks/non feelable which look worse than they are - it actually played through really well with no jumping or skipping and amazing in the room sound typical of an early Van Gelder pressing.
The outer sleeve is still robust with only a small area of wearthrough to the bottom seam. There is a small area of print loss/tear to the rear LH lower corner plus light staining/discoloration ( see photos). No writing or tape.
The original paper inner sleeve is still present, however we have decanted the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to preserve the record after cleaning - you will receive both.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
