Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB condition vinyl 2 LP Set and 1978 FIRST PRESSING on the Blue Note Records label issued in "The Blue Note Jazz Classic Series" and features three outstanding Live Sessions featuring legendary drummer ART BLAKEY titled "Live Messengers"--the first session from February 21, 1954 features CLIFFORD BROWN on trumpet, LOU DONALDSON on alto saxophone, HORACE SILVER on piano and CURLEY RUSSELL on bass as was recorded at Birdland at the same time as the sessions issued by Blue Note as "A Night at Birdland"; the second and third sessions feature Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers with FREDDIE HUBBARD on trumpet, CURTIS FULLER on trombone, WAYNE SHORTER on tenor saxophone, CEDAR WALTON on piano and JYMIE MERRITT on bass and were recorded at the Village Gate in August, 1961 and the Renaissance Club in March 1962.  The LP is a 1978 Blue Note Records issue from "The Blue Note Jazz Classic Series" with the serial number BN-LA473-J2, is a 1st PRESSING of this set and Stereo recording except for the 1954 session which is Mono and was made in the United States.
This 2 LP Set is in SUPERB condition and the vinyl is in NEAR MINT- (Ex) condtion and should play beautifully, with just a few light paper scuffs that should not significantly affect play and NO other significant flaws; the deluxe gatefold cover is also in NM- condition with a clipped upper right corner, a slight sticker shadow on the upper right corner of the front surface, a clean 1 inch split on the lower opening edge of the front cover and 1/4 inch clean split on the bottom opening edge of the back cover, a couple of slight and very small age spots on the left edge of the back surface and just light shelfwear but no other significant flaws!  The two ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE INNER SLEEVES are present and each has a small clipped upper corner.

Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)

Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.

Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.

Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.

Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches.  Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.

Very Good Minus (VG-)  A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.

Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.

Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
