ART PEPPER ACOUS TECH MASTERED AUDIOPHILE COLLECTION - ART PEPPER + ELEVEN - INTENSITY - SO IN LOVE - SMACK UP - THE NEW YOUR ALBUM - THE INTIMATE ART PEPPER – ALL 45 RPM SEALED 2 LP SET  LIMITED EDITION EACH NUMBERED AND LIMITED TO 1000 PIECES EVER PRESSED.  Last SET FOREVER.

Here's How it was done:

Using only the original analog master tapes, the renowned team of Steve Hoffman & Kevin Gray remastered and cut all of the titles at AcousTech Mastering, which features a pure Class-A disc-cutting system. AcousTech is located at Record Technology, Inc. the plant where the vinyl was pressed. It is a tremendous sonic advantage to have the pressing plant plating department & mastering room in the same facility as Steve & Kevin could cut a lacquer and plated immediately. This prevents the degradation of the grooves in a lacquer which is very fragile to quick deterioration.

And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. It means that while you can't fit as much music into a 45, the undukations of the groove that your cartridge has to track are stretched over a longer distance. For these reissues, the music was displaced onto four sides, meaning each side contains about 10 minutes of music.

This is the ultimate reissues. The only way you'll get closer to this classic music is to listen to the master tapes or have been in the studio with the artist originally during the actual session.

You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection  because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.

ART PEPPER - INTENSITY - 45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set – #140

Considered by many to be Art Pepper's masterpiece, Intensity was recorded at the end of 1960, just before Pepper's lengthy incarceration. Pepper was beginning to incorporate into his playing some of the new freedom being pioneered into jazz by John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman. The result was even greater daring in his playing style. On Intensity, Pepper tests the boundaries of conventional harmony while observing the traditions of melodic improvisation which he never abandoned.

Art Pepper + Eleven

This album and the earlier Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section are surely the two most important sessions in Pepper’s entire recording career. Even though Art had recorded in many big bands, this was the first time he did so as a leader, and every musician in town wanted to be involved. Marty Paich, chosen as arranger, was someone he’d already played with and felt comfortable with. Reflecting later on the date, which went like a dream, Art remarked that he had both chafed at and embraced the constraints a tightly-arranged big band placed on him as a soloist.

ART PEPPER - THE INTIMATE ART PEPPER LOW NUMBERED 138 -

In 1979 Art Pepper was recorded at two sessions that up until now have yielded two fine albums, So In Love and The New York Album. There was more first-rate material recorded in those two sessions than would fit on two LPs so difficult choices had to be made as to what material not to include on the albums released at the time. Those choices were not necessarily made on the basis of the quality of the performances but with respect to such considerations as length and congruence of repertoire within an album.

These rare recordings which feature primarily material recorded in connection with the So In Love session but which also include a beautiful rendition of Jerome Kern's Yesterdays (with Hank Jones, Ron Carter and Al Foster) showcase Art in solo and trio treatments of jazz standards.

There are also quartet performances with George Cables Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins of material from Pepper's repertoire. The original recordings were painstakingly mixed by Rik Pekkonen and John Koenig. Analogue Productions is pleased to be able to release this material for the first time in album form, and much of it for the first time in any form.

Track Listings 1.   In A Mellow Tone 2.   Yesterdays 3.   You Go To My Head 4.   Tin Tin Deo 5.   Body And Soul 6.   Landscape

ART PEPPER - THE NEW YORK ALBUM -

This classic lineup from 1979 features Art Pepper on alto sax, Hank Jones on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Al Foster on drums.

Remixed by Rik Pekkonen and John Koenig; remastering by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman. Galaxy 5154.

Track Listings 1.   A Night In Tunisia 2.   Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be) 3.   Straight, No Chaser (Alternate Take) 4.   Duo Blues 5.   My Friend John

ART PEPPER - SMACK UP 45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set – #140

Art Pepper left a legacy of innumerable appearances on records, but his sessions for Contemporary always seemed to find him in the best company and in the best shape. Here his impassioned alto sax is appropriately applied to the compositions of six saxophonists, among them Benny Carter, Ornette Coleman, and Pepper himself. The presence of Jack Sheldon in a rare performance as a small-group trumpeter was another important factor in the album's success.

Track Listings 1.   Smack Up 2.   Las Cuevas De Mario 3.   A Bit Of Basie 4.   How Can You Lose 5.   Maybe Next Year 6.   Tears Inside

SO IN LOVE LOW NUMBERED 138

Of the new releases issued under Art Pepper's name in 1980, So In Love was overall the finest. The altoist stretches out here on a program of standards and blues, backed by alternating rhythm sections from the East and West coasts.

Pianist Hank Jones is all one could ask for in an accompanist, and his aching solo on "Diane" sustains perfectly the restive mood of Pepper's opening choruses. Overall, the West Coast team pianist of George Cables, whose great rapport with Pepper is unmatched, along with jazz legends Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins powers the music along with great care and economy. Pepper had climbed to such a plateau of individuality that he seems often here to be drawing his unconscious influences into the light and remembering what it was he loved about them in the first place.

On a leisurely "Stardust", he daffodils his sentiments with the grace and cunning of a Lester Young. The title track, a Cole Porter waltz that agitates into a collective improvisation by its climax, offers the best illustration of the wondrous use Pepper makes of John Coltrane. It isn't in this case a matter of piling up chords or of playing more notes, as it is with so many others, but rather of drawing on extreme registers of the horn to express more conflicting emotions, to reach deeper and higher recesses of the viscera and the psyche. Remixed by Rik Pekkonen and John Koenig; remastering by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman. Original Artist House 9412.

Track Listings 1.   Straight No Chaser 2.   Blues for Blanche 3.   So In Love 4.   Diane 5.
