Description
Art Pepper, Art Pepper Quartet, Discovery 3019, deep groove label. Year of release is 1952. This is an auction for an ultra rare copy of Art Pepper's first LP. Side A personnel includes Art Pepper on alto sax, Hampton Hawes on piano, Joe Mandragon on bass, and Larry Bunker on drums. Tracks include Brown Gold, Holiday Flight, These Foolish Things, and Surf Ride. Side B personnel includes Art Pepper on alto sax, Russ Freeman on piano, Bob Whitlock on bass, and Bobby White on drums. Tracks include Tickle Toe, Everything Happens To Me, Chili Pepper, and Suzy The Poodle. The record visually and play grades in strong VG condition with strict Goldmine standards applied. Significant original luster remains. I might ordinarily give this record a VG to VG+ grade. However, there is low level noise continuously present throughout the record. Continuous noise generally precludes a grade better than VG. Yet, there are no standout flaws, such as loud pops or ticks. The noise seems more attributable to general surface noise that is characteristic of many 10" pressings. Yet, the low grade noise is not so overwhelming as to diminish the listener's listening enjoyment. The labels appear clean and near virgin. There are only a few track marks visible only upon very close inspection. The jacket is in nice VG to VG+ condition except for the fact that both top and bottom edges have been split. There are two corners with bend wrinkles. The black front cover does not show much surface wear with there being only slight evidence of mild surface wear. The back cover is clean and has retained most of its original whiteness. This is a rare album that is rare in any condition and essential to any aficionado of Art Pepper. There is a modest reserve. The record was play graded on an audiophile system employing Basis Ovation, Graham Industries, Transfiguration, Sound Applications, and Jeff Rowland electronics. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE VIEW AND READ FEEDBACK COMMENTS ON MY GRADING! Satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis with postage BOTH ways. I have never had a negative feedback or unresolved complaint, and I have had only two returned items from all eBay transactions since January 1998. Domestic buyer assumes responsibility for $8.00 charge for insured media mail with a delivery confirmation. Insurance and delivery confirmations are required for all domestic shipments. Payments made with these charges subtracted will not be accepted. Only professional packaging materials are used for shipping, and all items are shipped securely and with filler pads; yet, you will not risk damage to the contents because the packaging is too difficult to undo. My packages are easy to open once you start the process, and you will not need a butcher knife or terrorist box cutter to do it with! Virtually all online payment services are available. Due to increases in fraudulent PayPal transactions and resultant chargebacks, items paid for through PayPal will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. Personal checks require a hold of ten business days for clearance. All domestic sales must be paid for within seven days of an auction's end. If you do not pay online, and your mail service as a sender is slow, don't bother bidding!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES: Uninsured Airmail Letter Post is used for international shipping due to its popularity. Rates are as follows: Canada $8.00; Mexico $10.00; Europe $15.00; Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America $16.00. Due to the high cost of related shipping, satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis exclusive of shipping costs. No guarantees can be made for safe delivery, or delivery at all, for that matter, for international shipments that are not sent by registered or insured mail. If you would like registered or insured mail, please e-mail me for rates. The charges stated for international transactions include the fee for a Certificate of Mailing, which is validated and canceled by the United States Postal Service and provides proof that I have mailed an article to you. Also included is a modest charge to cover the additional time and energy required for international transactions, such as correspondence, customs declarations, translations, etc. Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian are spoken. Shipping rates are not negotiable! I do not enjoy paying them any more than you do. Please consider when you bid that your shipping costs are part of your total purchase price. Surface mail outside the United States will not be considered. I do not want your record dragged along the ocean floor! Feedback on eBay can only be posted for 90 days. Transactions that involve surface mail have insufficient time during which problems can be resolved that might influence feedback either way. Cash (currency) is acceptable for international transactions but must be sent by registered mail unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Virtually all online payment services are available. BidPay, now with lower rates, or international money orders are strongly recommended as means for payment. PayPal will be considered if a winning bidder is able to provide satisfaction that a PayPal payment is totally bona fide. Kindly bid assuming that PayPal will not be possible and do not be offended if a request to use PayPal is not granted. This policy provides protection for users as well but only in the sense of someone else's attempting to steal a user's identity. Recent chargebacks due to fraudulent transactions and the lack of any seller protection by PayPal with regard to international transactions has made such a policy necessary. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. All international sales must be paid for within fourteen days of an auction's end. No exceptions!
