Here we have something strange,we all know that the uk "record collector" price guide has its mistakes (esp its prices!!) but i have here is what i believe is an uncredited second press which pre dates the 1975 PALM TREE issue with the MATT cover
This copy is a PINK LABEL with the LETTER "I" LOGO!!,I know what you are all thinking,that this is a copy of the reissue copy but it is not!,i have a copy of that in my collection,here is what the reissue is like
- Matt cover which on the back has a brown border edge at the top and bottom,the spine is straight from end to end
- Light pink label
- Flexi vinyl
- Has " # 4305 A" and " # 4305 B" ETCHED in the dead wax
This copy for that i have for sale has the following
- A LAMINATED front cover
- The spine "nips in" at each end to make a point which is like original 60`s covers
- The pink label is darker in colour and has 2 grooved rings around the hole
- The vinyl is VERY THICK AND HEAVY
- The numbers in the dead wax are STAMPED
So this is why i believe this is a legit second press,i have never seen one before and if you have any info on this item i would be very interested.so if you want any more info or want pictures of the flexi vinyl issue to compare please get in touch.Now on with the grading
The front cover is fantastic!! very clean and very bright with no laminate cracking at all.The four corners are nice and square with just minimal rubbing on the spine corners,NO "half moon" creases on the middle of the cover just a few tiny ones on the edges.There are no tears,stickers or writing
The non laminated back is very clean with just a sticker on the bottom right corner,other than this its very clean
The thick vinyl shines!! with NO GROOVE WEAR OR SCRATCHES it looks MINT!! its that good,look under a strong light and you can see a couple of very light marks which have been probably caused by taking the record out of the sleeve
The pink island labels are undamaged with no wear just a couple of very light and small spindle hole marks
I played this lp,and whatta sound!!,from the quiet run on all the tracks play mint!,the sound quality is awesome!,ultra sharp! with no crackles,clicks or pops and it does not jump or stick.FANTASTIC!
