Description
Rare one-sided 7-inch brown shellac record: ARTHUR PRYOR'S BAND - Mr. Black Man (March Characteristique) - THE BERLINER GRAM-O-PHONE COMPANY OF CANADA, LTD, no. 1322; patented Feb 24, 1897. This one was released circa 1899-1900.
These were the very first disc records (and the only ones for about 10 years); the company competed with the more-popular wax-cylinder recordings of the era. The company became "...of Canada Ltd" in 1899, and remained as such until the early 1920's.
Condition is VG (UNTESTED; has many tiny imperfections in the grooves, several very small but heavy scratches, very little label rubbing; on the back you can see a little star of tight stress cracks starting from the center hole).
