Description

This is a 78 RPM 12" METAL ACETATE of a rehearsal which is conducted by Arturo Toscanini, and as you'll hear, there are points on both sides where he sings to the music as instruction, but more importantly points where me gets upset and starts shouting, and basically melts down, ending with what sounds like him throwing or knocking something over, at which point the orchestra is dismissed. All in all, this provides historic documentation of this musical talent, as well as his famous temper. Side 1 runs 3:15, and Side 2 runs 2:15.

PLEASE NOTE: I have over 30 ACETATES and TEST PRESSINGS up for auction this week! This is from my personal collection, which I've built up over the last 20+ years, and this is the first time I'm ever offering these for auction, so here's your one chance to get your hands and ears on some real rarities. With that said, please make sure you check them all out! If you win multiples, I'll combine them into one package to save you $$ on S/H!!!

Just a note for those unfamiliar with metal acetates - these records are extra heavy from the center of the record being made of metal. These records are the first versions ever cut from the master tapes (even before test pressings or promo copies and sound the best) for the purpose of feedback on the mix by those involved in the recording process. These discs were expensive to make, so very few, if no more than one are usually made and as you can imagine, these discs are quite RARE and sometimes the mixes can be different from the final release. As you can imagine, acetates are the closest to the purest, highest fidelity sound of the master tape, as so few plays of the master tape have occured and therefore acetates are SUPER RARE and highly sought after!!!

The vinyl on this acetate is in good - very good condition and plays solidly, but with some light scuffs/scratches/sleeve marks/noise hear and there, and a slight edge warp, which doesn't effect the play or enjoyment of this disc. There is NO whitening to the acetate surface, but there are 4 tiny chips to the outer edge of this acetate, far away from the grooves. I didn't attempt any physical cleaning on this fragile Acetate, for fear of damage. If you wish to physically clean it or even import it into your computer to edit it to make it sound pristine, I'll leave that up to you. You can hear sound samples of the side/song below, which is from the actual record in this auction, and you'll notice that I've given a few distinct samples from different sections of this acetate to give you an idea of condition, sound and mix. Please see the photos below to view the label condition. This is a really RARE & COOL Toscanini/Acetate collectible, make sure you bid today!!!

Buyer pre-pays the winning bid price and $4.00 First Class Mail S/H for postage, mailing package and packing materials in the good ol' USA (insurance extra if buyer feels necessary).  For International wins, please wait for me to calculate the S/H before you make payment (see note below).

PLEASE NOTE: I will be sure to overpack all acetates and test pressing with multiple pieces of cardboard and bubblewrap to protect the item in shipment.  All INTERNATIONAL items/packages will only be shipped by Priority or Express Mail (whichever is cheaper) with insurance covering the final bid price for added security during shipment to protect against loss or damage of the item(s).

I require payment to be made within 7 days (1 week) after the close of the auction, if on the 8th day following the close of the auction I haven't received your payment via PayPal, I will open an Unpaid Item Case.
