Here it is, a VERY hard to find copy of the last, rarest and best Artwoods single!
It is a total classic and an essential part of any UK freakbeat/mod/soul collection, although it is near impossible to find these days! The Artwoods were one of those bands that seemed to be everywhere in the sixties, but insanely never managed to score a hit single. That is certainly not a reflection on the quality of their recordings, which were always nothing less than amazing. Even the b side, 'what shall I do' is great! - not one of the novelty b- sides the group seemed to favour in the mid sixties!
What a mod classic! Terrific pounding drums, crazy organ runs, shouted double tracked vocals, and a half tempo guitar break at the end of the chorus which gives a little time for recovery before the amazing organ shuffle kicks back in!!
Although it pains me to mention it (their music is achievement enough, in my opinion), it is probably worth noting that of the band, Keef Hartley went on to John Mayall, and solo infamy, Jon Lord went on to play with Deep Purple, and Art Wood was the elder brother of Ron Wood, of the Birds, Creation and Rolling Stones.
Condition is difficult to assess...the playing surface is vg to vg plus, with mostly only minor surface scratches that don't affect the sound. However there is noticable warping. Perhaps you can flatten it, but it DOES NOT affect the playing. EMAIL ME FOR A SOUNDCLIP! Plays very well.
This is a rare chance to get an original copy of a great dancefloor filling classic- a great playing copy until that elusive/impossible mint copy turns up
