Description

SMETENA The Bartered Bride  3 LP Box  set

HMV ASD 522 - ASD 524 original UK pressing 1963

I have acquired a large classical collection of wonderful recordings from a very keen and dedicated collector.

They are all mostly from the late 50s to mid 60s - Something of a Golden Age in Classical recording

All records are inspected very carefully and Gradings are based on Record Collector magazine.

I try to only offer recordings in a minimum of excellent Condition unless it is something particularly rare

when I will do my best to describe any visual or audible flaws

Side Two - Excellent Throughout

Side Three Excellent throughout  There was 1 light click for 6 Revolutions about 5 mins from start and a further 1 click for 5 revolutions shortly afterwards

The Bartered Bride is one of the most beautiful and successful of modern operas -

Smetana’s  final revised version appeared in 1870

It is seen as one of the  milestones in the development of Czech music

A rare and highly regarded recording with superb sound and some

ravishing performances conducted with great artistry and vigour by Ruldoph Kempe.
