LP-Title: Jennifer Warnes – Famous Blue Raincoat/The Songs Of Leonard Cohen

This is the original German pressing from 1987 on the silver ARIOLA label, 208 418. It contains the original inner-sleeve with complete lyrics, infos, line-ups etc. on both sides. J.Warnes and L.Cohen know each other since 1970, they have been touring together in 1972 and 1979 and J.Warnes has been part of many L.Cohen albums, their friendship still lasts today. Somehow you can hear and feel this in J.Warnes’ sensitive interpretations, besides that her beautiful voice plus the excellent musicians in top-form make this LP outstanding. Lovely recorded and mixed by Frank Wolf a.o., some of the mixing was done by George Massenburg ( who also recorded & mixed A.Nevilles “Warm Your Heart” ), the mastering was done by Bernie Grundmann. One of the best sounding pop- & singersongwriter-albums of all times, a true audiophile classic.

Condition: the record has several superficial, non-feelable lines and is therefore visual just vg+. The playback is much better, it plays in mint- most of the time with some very occasional, very few and very low soft background-tics, overall playgrading is ex.

The OIS has a short handwritten name plus a number ( '88 ) on both sides, a small part of the bottom-seam is open ( ca. 2,5 inches ). The cover has intact seams/spine with a few spots of rub on the seams, the lower left corner has slight bending/creasing, front & back have a slight general shelfwear, overall ex-/vg+.

Grading & Cleaning:

• the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

• after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

• I also visually graded the record under a strong light

• only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg.

• cleaned records are stored in a new deluxe innersleeve and they are placed in a new PVC protection-sleeve !
