Description
This out of the ordinary, rare, unusual Frank Sinatra autographed item is a 10” flexible
78rpm disc which apparently was pressed in limited numbers, but is not an advance DJ
copy. It is a special film promotional item for the movie “Meet Danny Wilson” in which
Sinatra starred and sang. The record has blank white labels on both sides. The first side
is signed in ink “Best Wishes Frank Sinatra”, and the signature appears to be genuine.
On the signed side of the disc is Frank singing “When You’re Smiling”, which was
apparently lifted from the 1952 movie soundtrack. The other unsigned side, with a blank
white label, is a voice-only recording in which Frank speaks with Charlie The Announcer
for half the record, and then Charlie addresses the radio listeners with an appeal to see the
movie. This item was not mailed or given to disc jockeys, seller believes, because the
song was never available in record stores. Seller is guessing that it was given or sent to
critics and movie reviewers. Seller has never seen or heard of one of these records
before. It is a Sinatra autograph coupled with a film plug. It’s in good physical condition
(V), with some scratches, but plays well. Song on first side clicks for first half. A fine
addition for any Sinatra collection.
