Description

DESCRIPTION:

Unreleased Gem and only known acetate / copy from Acid Folk outfit Plentitude. Recorded at the Birmingham Zel-La studios in the early 1970’s, this two sided disk features laid back Acidic male / female vocal harmonies on the cut ‘It’s never too late’ accompanied by a rather stoned sounding lead guitar. Many acidic folk elements are present in the subject matter and the wistful delivery coupled with notions of ‘misty mornings.’ Combine this with the hippie idealism of the hook ‘it’s never too late to change' and the moniker of Acid Folk is apt and well earned. The flip side cut ‘Can’t go wrong’, displays some nice guitar solos and a similar blessed out vibe if not slightly more melancholy in sound. Taking into account the elements mentioned above with the utter obscurity of this recording and this two sided acetate is certainly one for serious collectors.

CONDITION:

A note on grading, items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Thorens 124 MKII turntable with an SME 3012 arm and Ortofon SPU Royal N cartridge.

I have been collecting and trading records for many years and genuinely want you to be happy with your purchase. For this reason I treat grading very seriously and as my feedback suggests conservatively..

Record:

The Zel-la labels feature no colour loss, rips, stains or writing – slight lifting of the labels only. The playing surfaces under direct angled light display a full and complete lustre, very light scuffing /chaffing. No flaking, rust, serious groove wear so often apparent with acetate disks. (No marks can be felt to the touch or cause any jumps, repetitive pops etc) Playback highlights some normal background hiss which is so often apparent on acetates.

Visual grade of the playing surfaces = EX (Excellent) Aural grade = EX- (unobtrusive light noise / distortion in quiet passages) Please listen to the sound clip above for a clear sense of sound

Sleeve:

The Zel-La stamped stock card sleeve displays light yellowing and two biro markings on the reverse of the cover (These are very mionor)
