Overtures In Hi-Fi

(Decca SXL 2008 UK LP 1958)



This is a UK original ED1 Stereo LP pressing. It has a fully laminated flipback sleeve. This has an extremely thin spine. The "spine" text is on the rear sleeve next to the spine. There is a blue border around the text on the rear. The top & bottom flipback have a die-cut rounded area at the centre. There is a printers date on the bottom flipback (G.P. 8/58). This means that this sleeve was printed in August 1958. It comes with its original company "Stereophonic" polythene-lined inner sleeve.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has ED1 Decca labels. These have the "Original Recordings By" text on them. The labels are grooved also. The record has 1st press ZAL-3816-3E and ZAL-3817-2E matrix stampers. This is a genuine UK 1st pressing with a "blue border" sleeve & a 1958 printers date on the rear sleeve.



Sleeve: There is a very small 0.5 cm seam split at the top & bottom sleeve opening. There is some considerable rubbing wear to the bottom half of the spine. There are a few areas of rubbing wear to the bottom edge. There is some mild laminate peeling at the front sleeve opening. There is some mild ringwear too. Good+ condition

Vinyl: There are some light to very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. The polythene inner sleeve has left some light marks on the vinyl in a few areas. VG+ condition. The labels are in very near perfect condition & show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in VG- condition. There is some light to mild ringwear & creasing. There is some moderate fading  & a couple of small tears. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays VG+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in some places. There is some light or very mild crackle in some quieter places.
