Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This handsome and rare LP from London Brazil (LLB 1026, Brazilian pressing, orange label, stereo, polysleeve-covered jacket) features the brilliant pianist Alberto Boavista in a truly enchanting all-Villa-Lobos album, recorded in 1966 and sounding absolutely splendid here.

Boavista’s exact program is as follows, all works by Heitor Villa-Lobos:

Carnaval das Crianças

Petizada

Suite Infantil No. 1

Suite Infantil No. 2

Boavista has the full measure of these charming miniatures, which have much greater substance than is often credited to them. Indeed, the pianism is first rate, as is the sound.

Incidentally, the cover art reproduces a detail from Brazilian painter Candido Portinari’s “Denise a Cavalo”. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Marlos Nobre, printed in Portugese only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There bumping and wear at corners, as well as discoloration and aging, but that is all There are no seamsplits, owners' markings or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright and attractive – a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
