Description

Alexander "Skip" Spence (Formerly of Jefferson Airplane) was recently sacked from Moby Grape and was committed to Bellevue Hospital for 6 months. All the songs here were written when he was there and it kinda shows. The songs are raw, and some have an "Unfinished" quality to them. Quote from "Acid Archives: " a total presence of a person who turns himself inside out to express his inner feelings...for me it has desert island status... simply an awesome album... less whimsical than Syd Barrett, more American, more real" Note: "Oar" was one of the worst selling Columbia albums of all time! The Sony CD sounds too cleaned up and dead compared to this original press. There are a wide variety of styles from Country to "Cosmic Americana", Psychedelic Acid, and Folk Rock, etc. Spence plays all the instruments and produces too. This is a beautiful original/first pressing copy from 1969, Dead Wax: XM139778-1A (Side One), XM139779-1A (Side Two). The "1-A" shows that is an original/first press, not a second press or later press (I have one that says "1C" not "1A") also it is not a reissue either. Cover: Ex, very slight ring wear, very slight wear to bottom edge, no writing, no tape, no stickers (except for the Promo Slick), no splits. Has the original Inner Sleeve, no splits, no writing, no tears, no tape (See Pics). Record: Ex., very slight marks, very glossy. Labels: Very Clean, no writing, no tape, no stickers (See Pics). See Pics for song list. This is a "Columbia Records Radio Station Service" Promo copy (See Pics). A Columbia "360 Sound"; "2 Eye" Stereo CS 9831 (See Pics). According to the site "Popsike", a "1A" "Oar" album sold for over $2,300.00!! A very unique, one-of-a-kind album!
