At the forefront of the DIY movement in Portugal for twenty years, ground-breaking alt-pop group The Gift release their sixth and most accomplished album. Produced by Brian Eno and mixed by sonic master Flood.

ALTAR is the new album of GIFT, with release date on April 7, produced by the iconic Brian Eno and mixed by Flood. 
It's an album of 10 songs, timeless. Made for two years. Thought along three. Dreamed over twenty-two. 
Among them they result in a perfect characterization of a band that is constantly in the process of evolution and artistic growth.

At first it was the dream. On a special afternoon in 2014, Nuno Gonçalves and Sónia Tavares left Brian Eno's house with the certainty of everything and with the certainty of nothing: they were going to work together, share the entire process of building a record with one of the biggest producers of the world that the Gift always admired. This was wonderful and scary. 
A process that represented doubts, anxiety, insecurities, victories, and ecstasy, always with the presence of Brian, who every morning, at 9 o'clock sharp, entered the large room where they were engraved, surrounded by cables of various colors, floor lamps judiciously assembled and connected 24 hours a day and greeted the band, saying "Good Morning everyone."

And there everything changed.

Day after day, the songs were gaining life, body, roots and leaves. They were letting go of the band. Of Nuno Gonçalves who did them in the beginning, gaining hands that executed them and helped them to climb mountains in the heap. They were gaining form and spirit of their own. The songs that were originally thought to have gained new life the moment they were shared with Brian Eno in the studio where everyone was in a remote place in Galicia.

Nuno Gonçalves identifies that "the forte of this record is undoubtedly its construction with fog, s ol, rain and wind out there", referring to all the emotions that the band spent during this work process with one of the UK's most prolific producers, Brian Eno, who worked with names like David Bowie, Talking Heads, U2 and Coldplay.

ALTAR is a ceremony, a celebration, an altar of music. For music. A commitment. 
ALTAR is the light that breaks the fog in the morning. It is the sun to hide at the end of the day, casting the shadows of the band members on a back wall of the room populated by instruments. 
It is poetry written daily on a white board where stories, smiles, were idealized, where the fears of the Gift were unleashed. ALTAR is the story of not giving up. ALTAR is running ahead believing that the future gives us more legs and more hands to climb the highest mountains, the highest stained glass. ALTAR is a dream come true. A life goal hit and finally shared.

In a disc that oscillates between the pop, alternative and electronic sonority, ALTAR is, in the words of the band the "dance to sing. It's smiles and hugs. Goodbye emotion. The thrill of not returning. It's divorce and love to give. And love to receive. ALTAR is the life story that we have been able to record and trace in all of us. There is not one before and one after. There is the present. At first it was the dream. In the end, even at the end we managed to wake up, and the result is here. "

The new album by Gift has three singles released in anticipation of the album, and has unveiled a little of what this album has to offer: "Love Without Violins ft Brian Eno", "Clinic Hope" and "Big Fish".
