Description
Alto Analogue 7 disc boxed set AA006, pressed on 180g vinyl. Six 33 1/3 rpm discs, one 45 rpm disc, see description below. Booklet included.
The Ataulfo Argenta Edition. Audiophile remasterings of six recordings of Spanish repertoire with Argenta conducting the Orquestra Nacional De España. Recorded by Spanish Columbia, and originally issued on the Alhambra label. Only SCLL 14000 (Concierto Aranjuez, etc.) and side one of SCLL 14007 (Master Peter's Puppet Show) were issued in stereo by Decca in the SXL series. These were all issued in stereo on the London label, but are very rare, except for the Concierto de Aranjuez disc. Always sought after for both the sound quality and the wonderful performances. Remastered at Abbey Road in 1997 from the original master tapes by Nick Webb. Includes reproduction covers with the original Alhambra cover artwork.
Includes:
1. SCLL 14000 Rodrigo, Concierto de Aranjuez, Narciso Yepes, guitar, Falla, Nights in the Gardens of Spain, Gonzalo Soriano, piano. Decca SXL 2091, London CS 6046
2. SCLL 14001 Falla, Three Cornered Hat, Turina, Sinfonia Seviliana. London CS 6050

3. SCLL 14007 Falla, "El Retablo De Maese Pedro" (Master Peter's Puppet Show), Harpsichord Concerto, R. Veyron Lacroix, harpsichord. Master Peter's Puppet Show was issued on Decca SXL 2260, the entire album was issued on London CS 6028
