Description

Artist & Title: Amon Düül II – Wolf City

Wolf City: Ultra rare MINT original 1972 UK issue first pressing 7 track vinyl LP from the greatest Krautrock band ever, right up there alongside Yeti and Phallus Dei as classic Amon Duul II, with more structure taking hold than previous psychedelic efforts and Renate Knaup's incredible vocals leading the way. In immaculate as-new condition and sounding as wonderful as only first-grade vinyl can.
The vinyl is in Mint condition and sounds wonderful - a great play copy - with first press A-1/B-1 stamped matrix numbers. The gatefold sleeve, with original inner, is in fabulous as new Mint condition whilst the vinyl on this copy is a truly excellent copy of this essential Prog rock/Krautrock LP. Both the sleeve and disc are in beautiful condition.
Please note that although this is the original first pressing issued by United Artists in the UK the disc was actually pressed in Germany – as were ALL the UK first issues of this album.

The disc has First Pressing matrix numbers in the run-out grooves and is in Mint condition. Hard enough to find in good condition, this copy is in MINT CONDITION and the gatefold picture sleeve is also in MINT CONDITION. And as these UK 1st pressings come up so infrequently in this condition this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

This rare UK FIRST PRESSING LP is hardly ever offered for sale in this condition.

This is the very rare real thing: a GENUINE first UK issue in MINT CONDITION. The textured gatefold sleeve is also in MINT CONDITION, with no creases, scratches, tears, writing, stickers, dog-ears or other obvious damage. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1972. The LP is the original first issue stereo LP, which was only played on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES OF THIS ALBUM FROM THE PREMIER KRAUTROCK BAND EVER OFFERED FOR SALE IN RECENT TIMES

Wolf City is the fifth studio album released by the German Krautrock band Amon Düül II.
Like its predecessor, Carnival in Babylon, Wolf City is a more conventional recording than the band's earlier albums, with shorter track times and more straightforward song structures. This was likely due to the band's increasing commercial popularity, both at home and in the UK. Despite this change, the album reaffirms Amon Düül II's love for experimentation, especially on such tracks as "Jail-House Frog" and "Deutsch Nepal".

Wolf City saw the light of day in September 1972. While its predecessor, Carnival In Babylon, had, according to Karrer, still been produced "with revolvers drawn", the recordings of Wolf City went off comparably peacefully. The same applied to the musical direction of the album, which sounded more song-oriented, not as multi-layered and more geared to Renate Knaup’s unusual vocal style. Even the sweeping improvisations of earlier days were a thing of the past, only the seven-minute opener ‘Surrounded By The Stars’ coming close to the playing time of their previous cuts. Atmospheric numbers such as ‘Wie der Wind am Ende einer Straße’ or the brief, avant-garde ‘Deutsch Nepal’ were definite highlights of Amon Düül`s creative oeuvre.

This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this unique album, which is a very important album in the history and development of progressive rock.

Without doubt one of the best albums I own, it is absolutely phenomenal. The album is at all times epic, much like the sound of Yes on Fragile or other similar Prog Rock acts of the time, but it has a distinctly Krautrock feel at the same time. Many of the songs are tinged with Eastern influences such as 'Wie der Wind am Ende einer Strasse' and 'Sleepwalker's Timeless Bridge' which have some brilliant Tabla parts.
Essentially this is just a very well put together Prog/Krautrock album. What I think makes it that way is the continuity between tracks: each one flows well in to the next, the way a proper concept album should. Themes in tracks are brought back in other songs to link them even better, but very, very subtly. Incredible hooks, an all-round awesome sound and some interesting innovations that bring out the Krautrock in them. I can't think of a way to make this record better.

Personally, I will be heart-broken to part with this LP – but everything must go!

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!

AND IT MUST SELL IN THIS ONCE ONLY AUCTION

You can read more about the album and band all over the web.
