Description
"Presence," by Andrew & Daniel, released in Germany in 1987. Great discovery here, a private release by a transatlantic duo, a German guitarist and keyboardist and an American singer out of the Finger Lakes region of New York, the lyrics translations of poems by someone (a guru?) named Rumi. The music is sacral and spellbinding, a blend of synth wave and Kraut folk psych with few parallels aside from the moody artwave of Eyeless in Gaza, with mystical, pagan nature worship underpinnings that also align it with Current 93 and related artists. The album is not Xian per se, but the lyrics, with sexual overtones, address a deity, and the record is dedicated to "Mother." It's more psych than New Age (and no, I would never label it that ridiculous term PINA), with a cultish cast and a spooked deep woods ritual primitivism. Astounding find with appeal to both electronic and folk psych camps. Highest recommendation, a long-time favorite album. Sold one a little over a week ago - this is another spare copy. Both vinyl and cover in excellent condition. Please note my scanner cannot capture the entire width of the record cover.
