redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This lovely and rare late-issue LP from Virgin Classics (VC 7 91198-1, German pressing, turquoise label, DDD stereo) features the young Leif Ove Andsnes in his debut album for the label, pairing Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor Op. 16 with Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major S. 125, both recorded with conductor Dmitri Kitayenko and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in the rich acoustics of Grieghallen, Bergen, Norway, in Jun 1990.

Filling out the LP are Andsnes’ bewitching accounts of Grieg’s Six Lyric Pieces Op. 65.

This album was produced by Tony Harrison and engineered by Sean Lewis. The executive producer was Simon Foster.

The striking cover photo of Andsnes was taken by Morton Krogvold, while the album design was executed by Mantis Studio, London. There are authoritative liner notes by the wonderful critic Robert Layton on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is light edgewear, more so at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
