Anita Baker – Rapture
FACTORY SEALED / NEVER PLAYED
2025 ELEKTRA 75TH ANNIVERSARY VINYL REISSUE
FREE SHIPPING
An essential copy of Anita Baker's landmark 1986 breakthrough album, Rapture – the record that transformed Baker into a superstar and helped define the sophisticated, jazz-inflected Quiet Storm sound of the era.
This is the 2025 vinyl reissue released in celebration of Elektra Records' 75th Anniversary. This copy remains factory sealed and has never been opened or played.
Rapture is one of those rare albums with no filler. Eight songs, and every one earns its place.
Includes:
• Sweet Love
• You Bring Me Joy
• Caught Up in the Rapture
• Been So Long
• Mystery
• No One in the World
• Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year)
• Watch Your Step
The album includes some of Baker's signature recordings alongside inspired interpretations of songs previously recorded by other artists. "Mystery," written by Rod Temperton, had previously been recorded by The Manhattan Transfer; "No One in the World" had been recorded by Dionne Warwick; and "You Bring Me Joy," written by David Lasley, was originally recorded by Norman Connors featuring Adaritha.
Baker made these songs unmistakably her own, alongside classics including the Grammy-winning "Sweet Love," "Caught Up in the Rapture," "Been So Long" and "Watch Your Step."
Produced by Michael J. Powell, Rapture beautifully blends R&B, soul and jazz influences with Baker's unmistakable contralto and the polished musicianship that made the album a defining recording of sophisticated 1980s soul.
