Description
This group of three (and a half!) records by the ever popular Annette Hanshaw (“The Personality Girl”) were all recorded electrically by Columbia’s “Viva-Tonal” process for their budget labels. This grouping will give you a variety of pop songs featured by Miss Hanshaw in the latter 1920s. The “half” record refers to #1910, which has a serious lam crack on “I Get the Blues When it Rains,” although the record will play through. Record include:
Diva 2734-G – High Up On a Hill-Top / That’s Just My Way of Forgetting You – Labeled as “Gay Ellis,” (Accomp. By the University Six) (Rec. Sept. 13, 1928)
Velvet Tone 2066-V – If I Had a Talking Picture of You / I’m a Dreamer, Aren’t We All? (Accomp. By Three Blue Streaks) [Years later, Miss Hanshaw herself identified the accompanists as James P. Johnson, Clarence Williams, and Mannie Klein.] (rec. Dec. 4, 1929)
Velvet Tone 1945-V – Pagan Love Song / Ua Like No a Like – Frank Ferera’s Hawaiian Trio with vocal choruses by Annette Hanshaw (rec. June 4, 1929) (there is a 1 ½” scratch on the “Ua Like” side, which will cause a slight tick)
Velvet Tone 1910-V – My Sin (This side in excellent condition) / I Get the Blues When it Rains (Accomp. By The New Englanders) (Rec. May 30, 1929) (Deep lam crack affects first ½ inch of second side only)
You don’t want to purchase just one record at a time, and I’d prefer not to sell them that way! So this group of records comes with one low shipping charge, and makes a great "starter" collection for new Annette Hanshaw fans.
Condition: Records are in excellent “used” condition, with lights rubs. I would grade them as E-- to E+. Your satisfaction is guaranteed, and I will refund if they do not meet your expectations.
