ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful LP from Columbia (33CX 1593, English EMI pressing, blue/gold label, mono – no stereo edition exists) features Annie Fischer’s magnificent accounts of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas No. 8 in C minor Op. 13 “Pathetique” and No. 21 in C Major Op. 53 “Waldstein”, both recorded at EMI’s Studio No. 3, Abbey Road, London, in June 1957. She can withstand the most exalted comparisons, be it with Edwin Fischer, Artur Schnabel, Solomon, et al.
On the reverse side of the jacket there is a lovely photo of Annie Fischer, with her husband Aldar Toth, taken at Abbey Road Studios, London – see the image provided.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is a small bend to the upper-left corner, as well as some minor bumping at corners and slight edgewear, but that is all. There is also a discreet tape repair to the interior sleeve. However, there are no seamsplits or owners' markings, and whole remains solid, bright, and glossy – overall, a handsome collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. The surfaces are not CD silent, but in general the playback is superb. If you need a MINT copy, you are advised to look elsewhere – this is an excellent collector's copy.
