This handsome LP – a fine collector's copy with 1S/1S stampers – from RCA (VICS-1066, US pressing, plum/silver label, grooved, stereo) features Ernest Ansermet and the Royal Opera House Orchestra, Covent Garden in bewitching accounts of works by Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Delibes, and Adam, taken from their famed double album in RCA's Soria series.
The exact contents are as follows:
Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker
March, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian Dance, Chinese Dance, Waltz of the Flowers
Schumann: Carnaval
Pierrot, Reconnaissance, Aveu, Pantalon et Columbine
Delibes: Coppélia
Prelude: Introduction & Mazurka; Act I: Introduction & Waltz, Czardas
Adam: Giselle
Act I: Introduction & Waltz; Act II: Pas de deux and Variations
These extraordinary performances were set down in the fabled acoustics of London's Kingsway Hall during 13-16 January 1959 (producer: Michael Williamson / engineer: Kenneth Wilkinson).
There are insightful liners notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only. The striking cover art reproduces a detail from Katsushika Hokusai's "Boy with Flute".
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor corner wear, as well as mild discoloration to the rear panel, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners's markings or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a very fine copy and the playback is superb. If you must have absolutely perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a very fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
