This beautiful LP from London Records (LL 3018, LP pressed by Decca in England / jacket printed in the USA, plum/silver ffrr grooved label, mono) features conductor Ernest Ansermet and l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande's glittering and bewitching account of Stravinsky's Petrushka (Petrouchka), recorded in Geneva's Victoria Hall in October 1957, taped during the "Golden Age" of stereo (producer: James Walker / engineer: Roy Wallace).
Ansermet knew Stravinsky personally and brings tremendous authority – and a lifetime's experience – to this remarkable scores, his unfailing ear for rhythm, orchestral balance and color, all allied to a powerful imagination, proving revelatory, with l'Orchestra de la Suisse Romande on inspired form throughout – a landmark in the Stravinsky discography.

There fascinating liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by conductor Ernest Ansermet himself, printed in English only. The wonderful cover art is uncredited, alas.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is mild discoloration along the edges and to the rear panel, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and very handsome in appearance – overall, an outstanding collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), this is a fine copy and playback is superb. However, if you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP – this is a lovely collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
