An original 1st mono press of AIP on the UK Atlantic label from 1968. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. At 1st release in 1968 stereo was very much in the ascendancy and most 1st pressing are, consequently, in stereo. But it's really worth seeking out those very 1st mono copies that are that bit harder to find - I can assure you. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono cover with pinched spine. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) A bit of a stunner quite frankly - and has seen precious little use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. As mentioned above I think it really is worth going the extra mile and insisting on the mono for this release. The audio quality is superb and that's despite being a live performance. A fantastic rendition of her work which is closing in on faultless. Interference is pretty much non-existent. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. And the only vague deviation is a couple of clicks midway through 'Never Loved A Man'. But by and large an extremely agreeable listen which would be hard to equal let alone better.
Cover (Ex) Lovely condition and that iconic front image just looks marvellous. Shiny unaged front with just one crease toward the opening. The rear looks great without the surface wear you often find with this release. Edge wear is very light and the openings are still sharp. The spine is pretty much entirely intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. No splits.
