Up for auction is this VERY nice 13 album, Limited Edition box set of Beethoven's Thirty-Two Piano Sonatas created by The Beethoven Society. RCA Victor Red Seal record label LM-9500. The pianist is Artur Schnabel . He originally recorded them in England as individual records that were available through subscription only in six-monthly intervals from March 1932 until June 1939. In 1956 The Beethoven Society decided to present all 32 sonatas in this Limited Edition Set. As if THAT wasn?t enough they also included the entire musical score in two volumes - 32 Sonatas For The Pianoforte /Ludwig Van Beethoven edited by Artur Schnabel and published by Simon And Schuster -New York. There are 411 pages in the first book and continues in the second book up to 862. The books are 9" X 12" X 1" and are in excellent condition. There is also a 12 page booklet of the Table Of Contents and a short biography of Artur Schnabel by Irving Kolodin. It is also in excellent condition (there are light "check marks" beside the song titles). All the records APPEAR to be in VG+ condition (I've played the first four records and they played great on both sides with just an occasional - very light surface noise. Not hardly worth mentioning, but...). The box seems to be the weak link in this set. I would consider it to be in VG condition. The front vertical bottom seam is split. The left edge of the box "looks like" the spines of two separate book volumes. The one on the right is there, but is detached (see photo). So whether you (or someone you know) play the piano or just like to sit back and listen to piano music this is an excellent choice.
