Description
This is part of a large auction of blues, doo-wop & R&B 10" 78's. There are quite a few on Atlantic, a nice group of Peacock and some other great records. Almost all of these came from the collection of a 1950's Yale radio DJ. Across the board, they have been played very little.
Here's the info on this item:
Release: Manhattan Paul w/ The Three Riffs & Orchestra - Hard Ridin' Mama / I Wish I Didn't Love You So
Format: 78 rpm 10" shallac record
Year: 1948
Notes: Red & black label first pressing. Early Atlantic release and the only one by this saxophonist out of Alabama. Paul, whose given name is Paul Bascomb, played with Erskin Hawkin's and Count Basie's bands before recording sides of his own for Atlantic and States. Great early R&B/jump blues here on this hard to find record.
Record Condition: E+, The record itself is in really nice shape & doesn't seem to have been played much at all. Very clean with no scuffs or scratches, but it has some pressing bubbles on the "I Wish" side which causes a bit of light crackle in spots. Labels are also very clean with no writing/tears/scuffs. Other than the bad pressing, this is one is in really nice shape.
All records I sell have been personally cleaned and play tested. I am an experienced grader and use the VJM grading system, but please see pictures as so much of this is subjective. These will be shipped in sleeves in a cardboard sandwich in an oversize box for maximum protection.
I want buying from me to be a good experience for you. I also know that condition can be very subjective, so I encourage you to see pics for exact condition details and ask questions if you need additional information. As always, the item you see is the one you will get. Please see my feedback, I think that will show that I am an accurate and fair grader and make sure my customers are happy.
I will combine shipping for anyone who wins more than one item. If you do need combined shipping, please wait for an invoice before paying.
