Something of a holy grail in underground metal, Avatar’s “City Beneath the Surface” was released in extremely limited quantities on “Par Records” in 1983. These recordings never got a “proper” release on CD. 2 tracks were re-recorded when the Floridian band changed it’s name to Savatage. Avatar/Savatage was considered one of the few “true” leading underground metal bands of the era along with Metallica, Slayer, Cirith Ungol, Trouble etc…
I understand this record has been pirated in the past. This is NOT a bootleg. Purchased myself as a teenager in the SF Bay Area in the early 80’s! If you need further authentication or pix and are a SERIOUS bidder, I’m happy to provide further information – just email me.
This record got a few spins in its day but is in great shape and has been well conserved in plastic and paper sleeves for 25+ years! Serious collectors will know this is an extremely rare item that rarely comes up for auction. GOOD LUCK!
