Description
Axxess - Novels for the Moons - First Pressing
Released in 1983, Novel's for the Moons was the brainchild of French multimedia artist Patrick Mimran. Patrick Mimran was co-director of Lamborghini at the time and released the album on his own label Lamborghini Records . Whilst not a "Berlin School" album, it is heavily influenced by German electronic pioneers Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, and Kraftwerk.
Patrick Mimran commissioned the German engineer Andreas Bahrdt to custom build a state of the art analogue synthesiser which eventually developed into "le Bart" the 16 voice synthesiser used on the record. Andreas had previously designed a less elaborate prototype of this synthesiser for Peter Baumann.
Whilst all the tracks were composed by Patrick Mimran the music was played by Mimran and Tangerine Dream's Chris Franke (who was billed as Howard Bedman on the album, presumably for contractual reasons). For many years it was believed that the enigmatic Mr Bedman was a pseudonym for Tangerine Dream’s Peter Baumann. However Chris Franke's involvement was later confirmed by Patrick Mimran .
This album will appeal to fans of early progressive synth records, Tangerine Dream (Tangram, Exit, White Eagle era), cosmic disco, and other lovers of all things electronic.
This is my own personal copy bought in 1983 from the much missed BJ's DJs in Macclesfield.
