Baby Washington possessed one of the sweetest, and finest of all the early Soul and R&B voices. Her impeccable delivery, sense of phrasing and diction, plus the gorgeous voice itself, made her one of the most influential soul icons of the early 1960's. Alas, her records did not sell well, and  - like Ike and Tina Turner, her label mates on Sue label - Baby Washington's two albums recorded for the label between 1961 and 1963 (of which this is the first one) are now massive rarities, commanding hundreds of $$$s in good shape. Well, we have one such animal here. Don't miss it --- remember: that's how heartaches are made!!!. CONDITION:

THE RECORD

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters). Mild groove wear noted.

(b)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)         Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP;  HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS VG++ (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-       Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged / bent.

-       Cover has a partially split spine (between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters)

-       Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)

-       Cover has a visible 'bump' (dent) on the paper slick on the bottom of the front panel (less than 1/2 square inch in size)

-       A faint greasy stain affects the area about 1/2 inch wide along the opening side  (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY); there is no structural damage to the cover, and both cardboard base and paper slick are intact.
