Records. E. "Z" and "Z" like shellac pressings. Scratches on 5 or 6 sides will sound 3-15 times. A couple of bangs on s. 6.
Album: E. Sleeves riveted rather than bound. Previous owner's bookplate on inside cover. No "28", about 2" tall in ink on back cover. Spine hinges worn but still attached. No notes included.
Announced in the Nov, 1932 supplement, pictured here but not included. Brief catalog life and, accordingly, rare. No issue outside the U.S. traced, nor any futher life on LP or CD.
Jones is a youthful, secure Evangilist who doen't asperate and the rest are more than competent. The chorus is well drilled and of substantial size. Allan Jones went onto a Hollywood and radio career, of course. The performance is better than its reputation. One of the very few extended recorded examples of American choral singing of the period.
Subsquent to this recording, a lot of musicology occurred.
Surprisingly good sound. I fooled around with various equalization settings and settled on RIAA. So much for that fancy pre-amp.
