MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Elenco Records very first MONO press released by Elenco Records, made and distributed in Brazil in 1967 by Companhia Brasileira De Discos Estrada Das Furnas, catalog number ME-11, with machine etched matrix numbers ME11 A OJÔ in Side A and ME11 B OJÔ in Side B, with white/black Elenco Records labels. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world for all lovers, fans and collectors of Baden Powell and Brazilian Jazz/Bossa music!!! WOW!!!

“A Vontade” is the third solo album by Baden Powell, originally released in Brazil in 1963 by Elenco Records and reissued 2 times in 1967 by the same company with the same catalog number. This copy is one of those reissues of 1967, one of them has a color back cover and label is white with the circle of Elenco Records logo and the text “Industria Brasileira” red. The other reissue has a black and white back cover and the labels are pale blue. However, now I have a third version of that reissue!!! The UNIQUE COVER is made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with two sheets of paper (about 2mm smaller than the cardboard in each edge) for front and back covers (partially glued at the spine edge) and kept held for a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork, but only black and white and with a very small boxed “M” at bottom left corner, which’s not present in the other 1967 reissues. Back cover is only black and white but in this third reissue it also has the small “M” at bottom left corner. Labels are only black and white, with the tracklist written in Portuguese and full credits for songwriters. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic Jazz/Bossa album by Baden Powell, a record almost never seen in this reissue and hardly seen here in eBay!!! WOW!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or EX condition, clear and complete, with some wear in all edges, more evident in corners, some age browning and some marks of humidity and faint blemishes, but as you can see it’s free of marks of any kind. The record is in VG+ or even EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with soft scuffs, some hairlines and light scratches, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX- or EX condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear and faint blemishes. The sound is in strong VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and some regular light clicks, which don’t cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this is not a record for the strictest Minty minds and audiophiles, but sure it’s still a record with a very nice look, almost immaculate labels and still a great sound quality after about 52 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER and the fact this is maybe the RAREST REISSUE OF 1967, a record almost never seen!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
